This position is exempt and therefore, excluded from union membership. With rich four-season recreational opportunities, safe and friendly communities, a reasonable cost of living, and local post-secondary options (Selkirk College), the District is the perfect place to work and play.The Position: <p>Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager of Operations primarily leads the day-to-day operations of the maintenance, trades, and custodial departments. As a member of the Operations Management Team, the Manager of Operations will be an integral member not only to the Operations Team, but also the District Leadership Team.The Responsibilities: <p>Provides leadership to operations personnel and is responsible for supervision, staffing, work procedures, orientation, onboard and training of operations staff<p>Manage, supervise and coordinate the staff responsible for the operations and custodial care and cleaning of facilities including: developing and maintaining procedures and standards, coordinating the waste management and recycling program, directing daily maintenance requests, and preventative and ongoing maintenance of building within Board Policy, Collective Agreement and established routines <p>Overseeing and providing work direction to bargaining unit staff to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of maintenance services, custodial services, rentals and security of district facilities. <p>Provide support and direction and setup professional development for the operations and custodial staff<p>Performing ongoing evaluations of departmental work methods, services, and processes for the purpose of providing the most effective services<p>Manages related budgets<p>Maintain a strong safety culture and monitoring safety processes/training<p>May be required to assume the duties of a fellow Manager or Director to cover for short-term absences or vacation.<p>Required to be on-call for emergencies.<p>Performs other related duties in the Operations department <p>The Candidate: <p> The successful candidate will possess:<p>A Diploma or Degree related to Facilities Management or equivalent in training and experience<p>Successful experience leading and managing in a unionized environment and proven organizational abilities for project planning, estimating and scheduling work<p>Comprehensive knowledge of industrial cleaning supplies, tools and protective equipment required to complete work safely (e.g. WHMIS) is an asset<p>Thorough knowledge and expertise in the areas of facilities management and custodial services as evidenced by at least 3 5 years experience <p>Comprehensive knowledge of the BC Building Code and WSBC legislation and requirements<p>Proven leadership skills and a team approach to managing<p>Exceptional interpersonal, communication and people
