This is a permanent position based in Sudbury.The Specialist Engineer, Project, is accountable for ensuring the safety, budget adherence, scope definition, schedule management and quality assurance for one or more projects. The Specialist Engineer will have the authority to make decisions within the established scope, cost, and schedule parameters. They will also be responsible for delivering projects within scope, cost, and schedule, while meeting safety and quality standards. The individual in this role will work independently to develop solutions to complex issues, while demonstrating an understanding of the needs of various stakeholders. The focus will be placed on coordinating interdisciplinary efforts for defining and controlling project scope and schedule of engineering deliverables. Additionally, in this position you will: Lead the design of safe working systems and conduct site inspections to promote safety practices within the project area.Coordinate different functions and establish priorities to mitigate project delays.Lead and actively promote behaviors that align with Vale's safety goals for all stakeholders including employees, contractors, customers, and members of the community.Take on project management responsibilities for capital projects, including liaising with external engineering firms.Coordinate the engineering input, including project reviews for project governance assessments, and ensure follow-up actions, including technical bid evaluations, risk processes and engineering assessments are completed.Manage assigned contract packages to ensure timely submission of deliverables and approval of contract changes.Coordinate the outputs of the project team or teams in line with the detailed scope, cost, and schedule control baselines, managing any project changes accordingly.Influence project team members' performance to effectively meet project requirements.Maintain clear communication channels within the project team to ensure alignment on goals and priorities.Collaborate with project team members and contractors to ensure comprehensive oversight of the project and timely progress.About YouEducation:Bachelor of Engineering in appropriate discipline is requiredCertification:P. Eng (required)Project Management Professional (PMP) certification considered an assetExperience:Minimum of 8+ years of post P.Eng. experience in a similar roleSkills:Recognized as a subject matter expert and able to serve as a technical advisorProficient in challenging conventional practices and offering innovative solutions to complex problemsCapable of managing the most complicated designs and workStrong communication skills, including the ability to communicate with leadership.Skilled in setting performance requirements and standardsAbility to act as a company advocateCapable of developing creative ideas for complex problems with no obvious solutions, evaluate alternative options and recommend preferred solution while outlining benefits and downside risksAbility to understand the needs of managem
