NATURE AND SCOPE: <p>The incumbent will coordinate and support the District wireless point-to-point grid over our wide area network (WAN) and site-based local area networks (LAN). In addition, the incumbent will assist the Video Conferencing Technician with video conferencing and audio/visual initiatives.<p>TYPICAL DUTIES: In conjunction with the Network Manager plans, organizes, and participates in the research, testing, and evaluation of wireless network hardware and software<p> Monitors and maintains all wireless WAN and LAN hardware throughout the District.Ensures systems residing on the LAN and WAN WiFi networks are maintained and secure<p> Maintains documentation on wireless LAN/WAN systems<p> Provides technical and how-to assistance on WiFisystems and services for all district staff<p> Provides assistance administering and maintaining District video conferencing and audio-visual equipment<p> Provides assistance training staff on video conferencing systems and services <p> Provides assistance auditing and monitoring video conferencing systems. Performs other related duties as assignedABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS: Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with Management, Administrative Officers, Information Technology staff, other employees of the District, and outside agencies<p> Comprehensive understanding of wireless networking protocols on LAN and WAN deployments, including but not limited to unlicensed spectrum frequencies and the regulatory requirements for their use<p> General understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, ICMP, ARP)<p> General understanding of audio-visual technologies and streaming technologies (Zoom, Youtube, Teams)<p> Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux/UNIX servers would be an asset<p> Ability to work independently and meet deadlines<p> Substantial planning, prioritizing, project management, and troubleshooting skills<p> Organizational, written, verbal, and presentation skills QUALIFICATIONS: 2 Year Post Secondary Diploma in Telecommunications or Computer Technology<p> Minimum of 4 years supporting point-to-point wireless WAN and enterprise wireless LAN technologies<p> Possess a minimum Linux Certification LPI Level II or minimum of three years experience working with Unix-based systems (specifically Linux) on Wide Area Networks<p> Valid B.C.
