Fort Vermilion School Division Our Children, Our Students, Our Future: Moving the Dial on Every Child The Fort Vermilion School Division invites applications for the position of Indigenous Education Lead. Job Description: Provide supports for teachers and school leaders to meet the Indigenous-focused competencies in the Teaching Quality Standard and Leadership Quality Standard Develop and maintain mutually respectful relationships with local Elders and Knowledge Keeper Fully analyze data of FNMI from beginning to the end of their educational path. Develop and implement changes to foster growth of FNMI learners through data analyze. Work with the superintendent within our research project (University of Calgary) to bring about system change or enhancements. Required Qualifications: Be in possession of, or eligible for, an Alberta teaching certificate Have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience The ability to work in a team environment and take direction The ability to travel and demonstrate flexibility of schedule The ability to facilitate Literacy professional development Deep understanding of Literacy Assessments Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree Teacher Certificate in the Province of Alberta Applicants who identify as First Nations, Metis, or Inuit are strongly encouraged to apply A sound understanding of how valuable it is for the Fort Vermilion School Division to have a strong representation of each and every unique cultural group located within our geographic area Has a sound understanding of knowledge and experience of our local indigenous cultures. Applicants with extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit cultures, languages and worldviews is strongly preferred Our School Division: FVSD serves approximately 4,000 students from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds in fifteen well-equipped, safe, and caring schools and a Home Education Center, all located in several Northwest Alberta communities. We are governed by a nine member Board which directs and monitors performance using a policy model of governance. We are customer-driven, learner-focused and results-oriented.
