Queen Margaret's School is accepting applications for an Intern Teacher to join our Junior School faculty beginning August 2024. Intern Teachers work in the Junior School to support the day-to-day programs and classroom routines. They support the Junior School with ongoing projects, and other duties as required. Intern Teachers take on special projects as assigned, and the School makes every attempt to tailor project work to the Intern Teacher's areas of interest and skill.<p> <p>This posting will close upon the appointment of the successful candidate so early application is advised.<p> <p>For further information about our school, this opportunity, and how to apply, please visit our Applicant Information Pack<p> <p>The role includes working at co-curricular and special events as assigned, including some weekends and evenings. Housing and meals may be provided as a taxable benefit, in addition to a salary for the academic year (September to June).<p> <p>This position is suited to individuals who have recently completed a degree in education. This is an excellent opportunity for newly certified teachers to gain valuable experience and mentorship in their teaching practice.<p> <p>Candidates must have completed their Bachelor of Education degree and be members of (or eligible for membership) with the BC Teacher Regulation Branch.<p> <p>Applicants interested in joining Queen Margaret's School community must embrace the ethos of an independent school education, the capacity to develop positive relationships with all community members, and the desire to contribute to a collaborative learning community. Faculty, including Intern Teachers, are expected to support the school's extensive co-curricular program. <p> <p>Applications must include proof of teacher certification and degrees obtained.<p> <p>Responsibilities<p> <p><p> Support the Academic program as assigned. This would include working alongside teachers in the classroom, assisting with co-curricular clubs and sports, and working in the After School Care Program.<p> Supervision of students during class-time and recess breaks.<p> Providing assistance in K to 7 classrooms as needed<p> Serve as a Teacher-On-Call (TOC) for the academic year<p> Helping to create a safe and nurturing classroom environment<p> Be student-focused and possess a keen interest in promoting student progress<p> Foster a climate of respect and fairness for all students<p> Communicate effectively with homeroom teachers, faculty advisors, and learning support staff as required<p> Assist with the administration of Academic events such as assemblies<p> Attend Outdoor Education trips as assigned<p> Bring energy, enthusiasm and a love for learning to the classroom<p> Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively alongside teacher colleagues<p> Demonstrate a willingness to learn and a desire to put students first<p> Attend meetings and school events as required<p> Lead co-curricular assignments with enthusiasm<p> Model the core values of the school<p> Be a role model for students<p> Collaborate with teacher colleagues to support a student-centered learning environment<p> Take an active part in all professional development activities, including staff meetings<p> Perform other duties as required or assigned<p><p> <p>Qualifications<p> <p><p> Graduate of a recognized B.Ed program / Teaching Qualification <p> Proof of BC Ministry of Education Teacher Certification (or proof of qualification in process)<p> Strong organizational and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate and develop relationships with a wide array of stakeholders (students, parents, teacher colleagues, community members, etc.<p> Commitment to continuous professional growth and professional learning<p> Ability to motivate students through meaningful curriculum and inquiry-driven learning<p> Demonstrated ability to develop strong learning relationships through the provision of a safe and trusting learning environment<p>
