WORK<p>EXPERIENCE AND TRANSITION COORDINATOR<p>1.0 FTE<p> Temporary position (August 26, 2024 to July 4, 2025)<p>Salary Range: $60,862 - $76,079<p>per year<p>Bradford Area The Special Education Department of the<p>Simcoe County District School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the<p>position of Work Experience and Transition Coordinator. Reporting to the<p>Principal of Bradford District High School (BDHS), the Work Experience and Transition Coordinator will<p>coordinate the planning and implementation of various experiential learning,<p>cooperative education, and/or transitional learning activities for<p>secondary-aged students (18-21) with special education needs enrolled in a Simcoe<p>County District School Board (SCDSB) Secondary Transition Program in Bradford,<p>Ontario. The coordinator consults with students, families, and educators<p>regarding strengths, interests, motivations, and placement options. Duties will<p>include: employment history interviews, arrange placements, conduct appropriate<p>testing and assessments, monitor staff (educational assistants), and provides<p>information regarding appropriate experiential learning, cooperative education,<p>and/or transitional learning activities for employability, eligibility, and<p>barriers. Qualifications, Skills and<p>Experience: <p> <p>University degree (education, disability studies, social work, social<p>studies, or similar program);<p> <p>Three (3) to five (5) years experience working with persons with<p>special education needs, preferably in a social service and/or educational<p>environment;<p> <p>Demonstrates the ability to establish<p>positive and effective relationships with students with special education needs<p>to engage students in instruction and/or skill building learning activities;<p> <p>Proven ability to assess student interests,<p>skills, and environmental factors (placements) that may impact successful<p>participation in various experiential learning placements;<p> <p>Excellent oral and written skills;<p> <p>Strong organizational and time management<p>skills;<p> <p>Proven ability to adjust to unexpected<p>changes in scheduling or programming;<p> <p>Proven ability to collaborate with other<p>professionals, including educators, community partners, and/or<p>employment/placement providers;<p> <p>Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook;<p> <p>The ability to work flexible hours may be required based on program and<p>operational requirements;<p> <p>The nature of the position requires the successful candidate to have a<p>reliable vehicle mileage reimbursement provided at the Board established<p>rate.TESTING<p>MAY BE REQUIRED DURING THE SELECTION PROCESS. This<p>is a temporary position with a normal work year of ten (10) months and ten (10)<p>days. The compensation range for this ten (10) month and ten (10) day position<p>is $60,862 to $76,079 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.<p>This position is based on a thirty-five (35) hour work week. Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all<p>full-time permanent employees, <p>even if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
