Job Overview:
As our Controller, you will perform all aspects of finance, accounting, and payroll of Water Leaf Management and the companies under the management. and be the Finance Lead. The Controller is responsible for the financial reporting function of the company. Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy, the Controller will oversee the accounting, provide analysis, interpret results, and provide recommendations to improve financial performance where appropriate. The Controller will also report results both internally and externally to the Executive Leadership and external stakeholders.
Duties:
* Responsible for all aspects of financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
* Full Cycle accounting including Accounts Payable.
* Control and reduce Accounts Receivable.
* Prepare and maintain an annual operating budget.
* Control and monitor payroll
* Manage, control and forecast cash flow.
* Administer and update the company?s financial policies as required.
* Plan and direct monthly meetings.
* Work closely with all Executive team members in achieving goals and objectives.
* Enforce legal and fiscal obligations as mandated by government agencies in compliance with professional standards.
* Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
· Ensure regulatory, financial and tax compliance with all local, provincial and federal laws and required filings.
· Management of workers? compensation and commercial insurance policies.
· Management of safety related programs and personnel policies.
· Work with external accountants on annual tax returns and ensure timely completion and compliance.
· Lead and mentor the finance team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional development
* Interact in a courteous and professional manner with all staff, executives and community members.
* Other duties and projects as assigned.
Skills:
* A minimum of 5 years? progressive accounting experience in a similar role.
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting/finance preferred. CPA designation or equivalent is mandatory.
* Experience and Knowledge of the Cannabis industry is an asset
* Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis.
* Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment. Follow directions thoroughly.
* Thorough knowledge of accounting/operations, purchasing, inventory.
* Thorough knowledge of budgeting and generally accepted accounting principles.
* Ability to maintain technical competence in accounting, tax matters, and industry innovations.
* Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks
* Proven team leader with a high level of energy and motivation.
* Has proficient understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook.
* Well versed in computer-based accounting systems, point of sale system a plus.
* Experience of QuickBooks Online is an asset.
* Must be legally eligible to work in British Columbia, Canada
