Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Address customers' complaints or concerns. Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques. Professionalism in customer service. Drive lighter, special purpose trucks. Load and unload goods. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Store items in warehouse, tool room or supply area. Resolve product and service related problems. Perform labouring duties in warehouses. Organize warehouse and work areas. Unpack products received by store and count, weigh or sort items. Clean work area. Pack, weigh and stack bound and finished products on pallet for shipment. Operate and drive automobiles, vans and light trucks to pick up and deliver various items and products. Replenish fuel. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Class 5/5F/G Licence (cars, small trucks and other 2-axle vehicles). Documentation knowledge: Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Type of trucking and equipment: Refrigerated. Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles). Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Transportation/travel experience: Local. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Sitting. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
