Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Tasks: Determine type of glass, frames and material required. Measure, mark and cut glass. Position and secure panes in frame. Prepare tenders and quotations. Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors or glass products. Install door, window and other hardware. Instruct apprentices. Repair glass doors and other glass structures. Supervise other workers. Estimate costs and materials. Work from man-lift mobile equipment, cranes and other lifting equipment. Frame fabrication and installation: Curtain wall (stock length material). Curtain wall (prefabricated material). Spandrel panel installations. Aluminum framing members. Entranceways. Glass cutting equipment and techniques: Cutting wheels. Self-lubricating cutters. Circular cutters. Automatic finger pull machine. Cut glass plate manually (straight cuts). Cut glass plate free-hand (curved cuts). Bend glass. Edge glass plates. Laminate glass. Paint glass. Tint glass. Installation specialization: Skylights and slope glazed installations. Sports installations (sports courts and boards). Stained glass installations. Electrically altered glass. Glass baffles, smoke and sprinkler baffles. Heat resistant ceramics. Shower doors and tub enclosures. Suspended glazing system. Vehicle windows, windshields and sunroofs. Display cases. Walls and other interior areas (i.e. partitions).
