The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Senior Specialist Engineer, Project Systems to join our Project Technical Services team in the Studies & Engineering Group in Toronto. This is a permanent position.In this position you will be expected to:Support project technical services and project engineering governance in the development, maintenance, and improvement of project engineering and management processes, procedures, systems, tools, and techniques in Vale Base Metals (VBM) Studies and Engineering group, for global deployment across Portfolios and Programs. This may include but not be limited to procedures for management of the SPE (technical and non-technical project norms, procedures, templates, practices)Support project engineering governance in the research, development and/or implementation of new processes and technologies in response to current and anticipated needs of business units and growth projects by applying in-depth technical expertise. Participate in the development, implementation and updating of the Technical StandardsSupport knowledge management and training programsSupport coordination of design reviews (including integrated 3D engineering)Support development and maintenance of value engineering processes, procedures, systems, and tools in Vale Base Metals projects, and coordination of value engineering reviewsKey ResponsibilitiesProvides technical direction on Critical Control performance criteria, audit Critical Control performance, and address performance issues as required.Responsible for scoping capital projects required to meet production requirements and control risk in their area of responsibility. Responsible to provide technical direction to start-up of these projects.Maintains awareness of best-in-class process technology development and makes recommendations for assessment for potential adoption in Base Metals operations; foster and maintain network of contacts with technology and equipment vendors, engineering companies, universities, and other technical institutions.Provide technical direction on process and equipment operational parameters required to meet plant production plan as a result of changing feed grades and feed sources.Support development of tools and techniques to measure and monitor performance, and ensure sustainability of process and/or technology changes after implementation.Provide mentoring, training, and coaching to a very high standard to colleagues and operationsEnsure the applicable regulations and policies are understood and followed with respect to safety, health, and environment.About You Education & experienceBachelors degree in any Engineering discipline.P.Eng. is required.Over 10 years of relevant experienceHow can Vale grow your career?
