We proudly serve over 40,000 students across almost 100 elementary and secondary schools in Niagara, located between Lake Erie in the South and Lake Ontario to the North. <p>The Secretary, Continuing Education, reporting to the Sr. Manager, Continuing Education and Community Partnerships, will be responsible for providing administrative support to the non-credit Continuing Education portfolio. This includes secretarial support for various programs within the portfolio including the Literacy and Basic Skills program, Transition to Employment program, Elementary International Language Program and other programs as needed. <p>Responsibilities will include support with report and document preparation, fielding general inquiries, directing calls and individuals to the appropriate contact, data entry, minute taking, and supply ordering. This position involves extensively working with computer software programs as well as interacting with the public. Proficiency in spelling, punctuation and grammatical usage, excellent communication skills and the ability to handle contacts with tact and courtesy are required. Applicants must have demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel) and electronic requisitioning through Sparkrock. This position will require flexibility and the ability to multi-task on a daily basis. <p>The preferred candidate will demonstrate strengths in the following areas: Administrative skills<p> Problem solving, system and program navigation<p> Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on professionalism and a positive customer experience<p> Demonstrated organizational, multi-tasking and priority setting skills<p> Ability to work independently and problem solve <p> Adaptability, flexibility and self-driven to achieve positive outcomesDuties and Responsibilities: <p>Typical duties of this position may include, but are not restricted to the following: Provide reception services; answer phone calls, emails and other communications regarding interest in programs, providing general information and directing to appropriate staff as needed;<p> Order and maintain office supplies and make other purchase requests as needed;<p> Prepare and distribute memos and documents as requested;<p> Use of technology: MS Office (Word, Excel) programs, database maintenance, Outlook, OneDrive, CaMS, myEOIS, FedcapCares and other programs as needed;<p> Input information into electronic case management software;<p> Support the department's administrative needs and work collaboratively as a member of a team;<p> Remain flexible and assume other duties as assigned;Skills, Qualifications and Education Requirements Applicants must have Grade 12 education (a minimum one-year College diploma in Office Administration is preferred), including or supplemented by courses in keyboarding (min. 60 words per minute). <p> Applicants must have the equivalent of one year of clerical/secretarial experience in a school board setting within the past two (2) years, which demonstrates proficiency in the functions described above.<p> Strong digital technology skills and comfortability with MS Office, experience with case
