Making Connections Worker (MCW) <p>Location: Vulcan County Schools (TBD) <p>Anticipated Start Date: August 26, 2024<p>Assignment: Full-Time MCW<p>FTE: 1.0 (Permanent)<p>The Division: <p>Palliser School Division, headquartered in Lethbridge, Alberta, educates around 9,300 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12. It has a diverse network of 51 schools, including traditional public schools, outreach programs, Low German Mennonite schools, faith-based schools, Hutterite colony schools, the National Sports School and even an online school. The successful applicant will work in conjunction with the School team and the Family School Liaison Counsellors at school(s) served within the Palliser School Division.<p>Reporting to the Clinical Team Lead you will be a game-changer for student success! The Making Connections Worker role equips schools with a powerful Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum, empowering students to navigate life's challenges. Beyond the classroom, you will be a guiding force for students and families facing obstacles, advocating for their needs and helping them overcome barriers. This is your chance to ignite positive change and cultivate a thriving school community where students and families can flourish.<p>Duties and Responsibilities: Implement evidence-based mental health programs and early intervention strategies within the classroom setting.<p> Collaborate with schools to facilitate the successful integration of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum.<p> Empower children, youth, and families by fostering the development of skills and knowledge necessary to cultivate positive relationships within the school, home, and community environments.<p> Facilitate access to community resources for families by providing referrals, scheduling meetings, and coordinating transportation as needed.<p> Advocate for families by liaising with school administration and community partners to ensure appropriate support and services are received.<p> Coordinate crisis intervention by assisting families in accessing the most appropriate services during challenging periods.We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. This role requires a dynamic and outgoing person who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for building relationships.<p>Qualifications and Work Experience: <p>Preference will be given to individuals with: A related post-secondary degree or diploma in psychology, social work or similar;<p> At least 2 years working experience in mental health or health/human services related role (experience as a practicum student considered); <p> Experience in an educational setting, with children and adolescents; <p> Excellent communication skills & interpersonal skills;<
