The position operates and maintains heavy mobile equipment of a complex nature in accordance with competency standards, safety practices and regulations and performs manual work. The successful candidate must be skilled in the operation of flush trucks and have general knowledge of utilities construction and maintenance work. Assignments are received from a superior who checks the work during progress and/or completion of the work for the attainment of desired objectives.Some of the key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:Operates and services a flush truck to clear and maintain sewer lines Flushes and cleans sewer pipes and vacuums catch basins Performs daily maintenance of flush truck, including cleaning filters and greasing pumps Troubleshoots and resolves any equipment issues Adheres to safety protocols and regulations Maintains accurate records and reports Performs related duties as assignedThe successful candidate for this position will have:A Class 3 Driver?s Licence for the Province of British Columbia Experience operating a Flush Truck The ability to operate equipment in congested conditions The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing The ability to work independently and work as part of a team Knowledge and experience working around underground utilities, including gas and electrical Knowledge of safe operation procedures and the precautions necessary to avoid accidents and machine damage Mechanical aptitude and physical stamina to perform the duties of the position in all weather conditions Working knowledge in the operation of a Hiab Truck is considered an assetWhy should you consider working for us?An hourly starting wage of $36.42 (2024 rate of pay) We take our work seriously but not ourselves We have a positive attitude about the work we perform We care deeply about our community Our organization is the ideal size for you to make a difference and have an impact We have a strong learning culture and want our people to grow and succeed We are a living wage employerQualified individuals are encouraged to apply online by July 2, 2024 at www.portcoquitlam.ca/cityjobs quoting competition number 24-086i.
