Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Outdoors. Work setting: Construction site. Tasks: Load, unload and transport construction materials. Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades. Operate pile driving cranes to drive pilings into earth to provide support for buildings and other structures. Instruct apprentices. Operate cranes equipped with dredging attachments to dredge waterways and other areas. Assemble tower cranes on site. Assist in drilling and blasting rock on construction sites. Operate cranes mounted on boats or barges to lift, move and place equipment and materials. Assist in demolishing buildings. Clean and pile salvaged materials. Operate dragline cranes to expose coal seams and ore deposits at open pit mines. Perform routine maintenance work. Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction.
