Our firm practices exclusively in Family Law and provides exceptional legal counsel and support to families during a difficult transition period. Driven by a genuine commitment to each client, we provide exceptional service and attention to detail. We require an energetic Family Law Assistant who takes pride in their work and excels in organization. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter who knows how to move a file forward confidently with minimal direction in a fast paced environment. They would be tech savvy in all areas of Microsoft, and have a firm understanding of scheduling, limitations, and deadlines in a busy Family Law practice. They will be able to anticipate the lawyers needs, adapt to quickly changing deadlines on the fly, and prepare for the next steps on a file with confidence. *Daily Job Requirements:* * Drafting, reviewing and preparing of routine correspondence/pleadings, disclosure; * Filing pleadings in both Provincial Court and King's Bench; * Maintaining an efficient filing system, both paper and electronic; * Liaise with legal assistants, lawyers and clients on file progress; * File maintenance, organization and review for next steps; * Creating, sending and processing payment of accounts using Unity/EsiLaw; * Working in Spin II, E-filing and other third party sources; * General administrative duties, scanning, conflict searches, opening and closing of files, dictation and any other duties required in a general law office setting. *Skills:* * Diploma from a Legal Assistant Program; * Experience in a Family Law Firm; * Proficient in MS Office; * Knowledge of EsiLaw and Worldox would be an asset but is not required; * Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills; * Ability to handle multiple completing and urgent deadlines; * Adaptability in a fast paced practice is essential; * Excellent prioritization/organization skills; * Positive outlook, with the ability to communicate professionally, clearly and effectively with counsel and clients.
