*SUMMARY*
This position will grow the Delmar footprint through the buying and selling of agricultural commodities. A critical component of this role is developing strong relationships with suppliers and customers through a deep understanding of the market, excellent communication, and flawless execution of trades. This role requires a highly driven individual who wants to work in a fast-paced environment at a growing company.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES *include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Generate margin through buying and selling of commodities and continually expand merchandising program.
· Manage execution of physical commodity trades via rail and truck logistics.
· Enter all contracts promptly and secure counterparty confirmation/signature.
· Manage contracts all the way through to accounts receivable.
· Identify destination markets and new sales opportunities.
· Cultivate new and existing relationships with third party suppliers, customers, and transportation vendors.
· Collaborate with external customers to create value. Demonstrate precision for efficient and effective internal communication.
· Review producer profiles annually and target suppliers.
· Form bias on price based on market information.
· Manage internal S&D for assigned commodities.
· Collaborate with Product Line Leaders and other team members on all aspects of risk management activities.
· Attend weekly merchandising meetings.
· Participate in quarterly revenue/operations meetings.
· Participate in annual volume/margin forecasting.
· Represent the Company at industry functions in a professional manner.
· Assume the lead role in various special projects, as assigned.
· Exhibit fair, ethical, and legal commercial standards.
*SKILLS/EXPERIENCE*
*Required*
· Minimum three years of experience in a sales or customer facing role in Canadian agriculture.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Self-starter, able to manage multiple deadlines.
· Excellent negotiation skills.
* Familiar with futures markets and hedging.
* Must be able to travel within Canada and to the U.S.
*Desired*
· Post secondary education preferred.
· Agriculture diploma/degree preferred.
* Strong knowledge of the Canadian grain industry including marketing, transportation & crop production
