2024/2025 CEO 23 <p> Autism Spectrum Disorder Worker <p>St. Francis of Assisi CES, Newcastle <p>35 h/w (10 m/y) Note: In cases where an internal applicant from a different classification applies, that candidate will be required to participate in an interview and will be subject to reference checks to determine eligibility for the position subject to Article 12.02 of the collective agreement. For greater clarity, the interview will be worth 70% and the reference check 30%. Competition Period: <p>Applications can be done at home or from outside the school at www.applytoeducation.com no later than 12:00 p.m. on the closing date outlined above.<p>Job Function: Promote the educational growth of students within the Boards jurisdiction who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder by ensuring development of students communication, behavioural and social skills.Job Description: <p>1. Work cooperatively and collaboratively as a member of the school team under the direction of the Principal;<p>2. Assist in the development, implementation, tracking and assessment of instructional programs, as <p>outlined in students Individualized Education Plans including the development and implementation of innovative visual supports, social scripts, schedules of reinforcement, motivation and evidenced based alternative learning such as Social Thinking, Zones of Regulation and the Mehrit Centres Selfreg.<p>3. Assist in the development, implementation and tracking of positive safety support plans, including developing ABC data tracking forms, implementing Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) strategies, and participating in debriefing and data assessment meetings, as required;<p>4.Develop/Support programming for students so they can meaningfully and successfully participate with the school community, both inside and outside of the school building, such as work and experiential learning opportunities;<p>5. Support students in their personal care needs, including lifting, toileting, and using specialized equipment;<p>6. Work with and follow recommendations from Speech Language Pathologists to ensure communication, behaviour, social and sensory programs are effectively implemented and tracked;<p>7. Work with and follow recommendations from Occupational and Physical Therapists to implement and track programs, including using specialized equipment;<p>8. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to provide necessary support to students living with autism, to include, but not limited to, training supported by the Geneva Centre, communication applications for electronic devices, First Aid, Behaviour Management Systems, Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA), and specialized equipment;<p>9. Anticipate, adapt and respond to ongoing changes in student behaviour and learning environments, such as ongoing schedule revisions, transitions, planning;<p>10. As directed by the Principal, participate in Identification, Placement and Review Committee (IPRC) Meetings, case conferences and individual education plan meetings to support communication of the students programs;<p>11. Assist with the loading and unloading of school buses or taxis. <p>12. Ensure the appropriate and effective implementation of pertinent Board policies and administrative procedures, (for example, AP 912), such as those which concern student and staff safety, student discipline, administration of medication; under the direction of the school principal. <p>13. Promote and ensure communication processes between staff in the specialized classroom (CASA), and those in regular classroom settings. Job Requirements: <p>1.
