Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Carpentry/carpenter. Work site environment: At heights. Outdoors. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Commercial. Millwork/pre-fab shopwork. Residential. Tasks: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs. Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites. Instruct apprentices. Assemble, fit and install prefabricated parts to form subassemblies or finished products. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Carpenter Trade Certification. Carpenter Red Seal Certificate. Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Willing to travel regularly. Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Physically demanding. Work with minimal supervision. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Accurate. Efficient interpersonal skills. Judgement. Team player. Values and ethics.
