District of SecheltAdministrative Assistant, Finance Competition No. 2024-27(Temporary, Full-Time) Nature of the PositionThe District of Sechelt is seeking an Administrative Assistant, Finance to temporarily fill a vacancy resulting from a maternity leave. Under the general direction of the Director of Financial Services and Manager of Financial Services, the Administrative Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Finance department. Essential Competencies Essential CompetenciesCompletion of Grade 12 (or equivalent). Completion of an Administrative Assistant Certificate program at a business school or college (or equivalent training). a minimum of 2 years? experience providing clerical support in a Financial Administrative Assistant capacity or be able to demonstrate an acceptable combination of knowledge, skills and progressively responsible experience. Highly proficient with computers, specifically with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Acrobat Pro, and video conferencing applications. Assisting Finance team with payment transactions, reconciling accounts and budget documents. Write and edit reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity and coherence of content. Skilled in minute-taking and have a minimum typing speed of 50 wpm. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills while exhibiting tact and diplomacy. Highly detail oriented and able to maintain productivity while working in a busy environment. Ability to provide excellent internal/external customer service. Work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Adept at multi-tasking and balancing a varying workload with competing priorities. Knowledge of in general office procedures and practices. Applicants must be able to attend off-site meetings and record accurate and comprehensive minutes of these and other meetings. Applicants must have the ability to lift and carry light to moderate weight objects; move chairs, tables and other meeting equipment into place; and test, set-up and operate teleconferencing, audio-visual and recording equipment required for meetings.Working Conditions This is a temporary backfill of a full-time unionized position within the BCGEU and the end of employment will be based on the return of the incumbent, approximately 18 months, with the possibility of extension. The wage for the position is set at Grid Level 6, $30.38 - $33.75 per hour, plus 9.8% of straight-time pay in lieu of scheduled vacations, paid holidays, health and welfare benefits and other paid leave. Hours of work are 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Flexibility to work overtime for evening meetings is required.
