*Job Summary*
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Accountant performs a variety of professional level accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying and reconciling financial transactions, statements, records and reports. The incumbent maintains the accuracy of the organization?s financial systems and assists in the preparation of assigned budgets, audits and year end. Monitors cash flow and expenditures to ensure compliance with funding bodies and advising management on budget allocations and variances.
*Qualifications and Experience:*
* Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in Accounting. An equivalent combination of skills, education and experience will be considered.
* Professional Accounting Designation (CGA/CMA/CPA) or significant progress toward attainment of designation would be an asset
* 2-3 years of practical experience in a related capacity.
* Demonstrated knowledge in budget forecasting, cash flow preparation and analysis, payroll and benefits administration, reporting, and ongoing monitoring of disbursements vs. allocations.
* Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, database applications and Accounting Software. Experience in QuickBooks is an asset.
* Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with all levels throughout the organization as well as with external stakeholders.
* Flexible and ready to adapt to changing circumstances within a multi-tasking oriented work environment
* Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and clear outcomes.
* Proven prioritization, time management and project management skills.
* Demonstrated problem solving, analytical skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
* Experienced/interested in working with people from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
* Demonstrated value for and understanding of principles of diversity.
* Knowledge of a second language is an asset.
*Annual Salary: $63,000 (4 days or 28 hours/ week)*
