Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Cold/refrigerated. Confined spaces. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Odours. Outdoors. Work setting: Relocation costs not covered by employer. Tasks: Operate filtration and clarification systems. Operate pumping systems. Read blueprints to determine work requirements . Take physico-chemical measurements on water and sludge. Wear and use Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) equipment. Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content. Collect waste and sewage samples. Complete and maintain plant logs and reports. Help with the installation, the assembly, and repairs to equipment. Maintain chemical feed stocks. Make adjustments to plant equipment and systems. Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally. Monitor and read recording instruments to detect equipment malfunctions and ensure plant systems and equipment are operating within prescribed limits. Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the treatment and distribution of water. Patrol plant to check pumps, motors, filters, chlorinators and other plant equipment. Transport and mix chemicals, and operate equipment used to unload chemicals. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Backflow prevention Certification. Water wastewater operator Certification. Confined Space Entry Training. Forklift Operator Certification. Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate. Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate. Water Treatment Certificate (Levels I, II, III or IV). Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Security and safety: Bondable. Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Combination of sitting, standing, walking.
