The region boasts unlimited year-round outdoor recreation including skiing, hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, golfing, boating, hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, mountaineering, white-water rafting and snowmobiling. The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) serves over 60,000 permanent residents and approximately 25,000 to 30,000 seasonal residents. The region is diverse, home to several unincorporated communities, eight municipalities and four First Nations communities.The Corporate Services Department is seeking a Records Management Specialist for a 12 to 18 month maternity leave. Under the supervision of the Corporate Services Officer, the Records Management Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the RDEK?s Records Management Program in accordance with legislation and organization requirements. The Records Management Program ensures that the RDEK?s corporate records, in all formats, are managed throughout their entire lifecycle - from creation and preservation through to disposition. This position is responsible for implementing strategies that continuously improve recordkeeping practices across the organization and providing training to staff on records and information management policies, procedures, and best practices to all departmentsAs the successful candidate you have:Considerable knowledge of Records Information Management techniques applicable to computerized records, digitally born records, and computer system applications. Extensive knowledge of Records Management regulations, bylaws, policies and legislation and issues related to information protection within local government. Interpersonal and internal operational communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrates ability to function independently, as a team member, motivator, and facilitator. Demonstrates ability to be flexible, prioritize tasks and responsibilities and complete duties and projects within allotted time. Demonstrates ability to provide effective consultation and customer service.
