Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Calculate insurance claims
  • Review and examine insurance claims
  • Examine adjusters' reports, insurance claims and precedents to determine extent of insurance coverage
  • Ensure settlements are made according to company practices and procedures
  • Consult lawyers, doctors or other individuals to discuss insurance claims
  • Approve insurance claims
  • Consult with claimants, accident witnesses, doctors and others
  • Determine amount of loss or damages covered by insurance policies
  • Determine validity of claims
  • Examine records and reports to determine insurance coverage
  • Inspect automobile, home or other property damage
  • Investigate circumstances surrounding insurance claims
  • Negotiate settlement of claims
  • Prepare adjustment reports
  • Take statements

  • Provincial Insurance Adjusters' Licence
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP)
