Nunavut schools are currently focused on improving literacy outcomes for all students and ensuring students? learning experiences are culturally relevant and respectful.<p>Located in the picturesque hamlet of Cambridge Bay, Kiilinik High School serves the community of Cambridge Bay. The school has a population of approximately 220 students in a 7-12 setting with a staff of 24. The school and community are steeped in a rich history of Inuit culture.<p>Required qualifications: <p><p> Bachelor of Education degree<p> Eligible for Nunavut Teaching Certificate<p> A minimum of two years teaching experience<p><p>Desired qualifications: <p><p> Experiences in reading processes, acquisition, assessment and instruction using balanced literacy strategies<p> Experience in collaborative support to students in the effective implementation of formative assessment and differentiated instruction<p> Experience with formative and summative assessment implementation, reporting and analysis<p> Experience planning, directing, facilitating and/or reviewing workshops and professional development modules for adult learners<p> Evidence in modeling and coaching instructional strategies for teachers<p> Evidence/experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholders<p> Teaching experience in an ESL environment<p> Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experience<p> Experience with Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI)<p> Experience working as a collegial member of the overall school team and to plan for students using a collaborative approach<p><p>Please note: Subsidized housing is available but sharing may be required. <p>The salary for certified teachers ranges from $83,643 prorated/annum. to $131,151 prorated/annum.<p>The Northern Allowance for Cambridge Bay is $19,716 prorated/annum.<p><p>The Department of Education, Kitikmeot School Operations is committed to:<p><p> The promotion of the Inuit language of the community, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (Inuit Societal Values)<p> Local control of Education<p> Inclusive Education<p><p>Resiliency, adaptability and resourcefulness are assets to employment and northern life.<p>Applications must be emailed (Word Document or PDF file) to kitsostaffing@gov.nu.ca <p>Note: Attachments over 10mb will not be accepted.<p>Ensure that the subject line of your email states the Reference #09-7956 .
