Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) to join our team in Calgary. The NCSO will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and procedures to ensure compliance with OH&S regulations and local legislation. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing all aspects of safety related to hazardous materials abatement and promote a safety culture within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs and policies in compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
* Conduct regular safety inspections of job sites, equipment, and work practices.
* Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to prevent accidents and injuries.
* Provide safety training and education to employees, including new hire orientations and ongoing training sessions.
* Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
* Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, incidents, and training.
* Liaise with regulatory agencies, clients, and other stakeholders regarding safety matters.
* Stay current with industry best practices, regulations, and emerging safety trends.
* Conduct annual COR audits to ensure compliance with OH&S standards.
Qualifications:
* Certification as a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or equivalent.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in a safety role, preference given to individuals with previous roles in the asbestos and mould removal industry or general construction field as well.
* In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and educate employees.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
* Valid AB driver?s license and willingness to travel to job sites as required.
