Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work setting: Willing to relocate. Home care and visiting care agency. Nursing home/home for the aged. Chronic or long-term care facilities/centres. Retirement home. Tasks: Administer medications. Apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing. Conduct specimen collection. Ensure infection control. Monitor nutritional intake. Observe and record medication's therapeutic and side effects . Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving and sterilizing operative areas. Record medication's therapeutic and side effects observations in patient files. Take vital signs. Provide technical assistance to surgeons by laying out instruments, setting up equipment, assisting surgical teams with gowns and gloves and passing instruments to surgeons. Clean and sterilize the operating room and instruments. Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy. Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families. Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures. Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work. Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination. CPR Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Immunization records. Eligible for professional liability insurance. Tuberculosis test. Vulnerable sector check. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Attention to detail.
