Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Hot. Cold/refrigerated. Work setting: Restaurant. Ranks of chefs: Chef. Tasks: Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items. Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory. Analyze operating costs and other data. Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets. Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff. Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods. Requisition food and kitchen supplies. Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions. Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards. Supervision: 5-10 people. Cuisine specialties: Canadian. International. Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is available. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Handling heavy loads. Attention to detail. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years. Support for newcomers and refugees: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees. Assists with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: housing, transportation, storage, childcare, winter clothing, etc.). Supports social and labour market integration of newcomers and/or refugees (for example: facilitating access to community resources, language training, skills training, etc.). Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.) . Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition. Support for youths: Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth. Support for Indigenous people: Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers . Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations . Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers . Support for mature workers: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports mature workers . Provides staff with awareness training to create a welcoming work environment for mature workers . Supports for visible minorities: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports members of visible minorities.
