Tasks

Load and off-load machines

Cut fabric or layers of fabric to specifications

Set up, maintain and make minor repairs to machinery

Push carts, trucks or cans of fibres from one work area to another

Clean machines and immediate work areas

Assist machine operators and other textile workers as required

Select leather and cutting dies
-
Cut and prepare fabric, leather and fur samples
-
Adjust cutting technique to type of fabric and style of garment
-
Operate clicker or punch press to stretch leather
-
Adjust rotation and mixing action of vats according to state of pelts
-
Examine products for defects to ensure adherence to quality standards
-
Operate a variety of machines to bleach, dye, coat or finish fabric, thread, yarn or other textile products

Prepare solutions to clean, dehair, pickle, oil or tan hides and skins
