<p>Temporary Buyer <p> Full-time Position - Up to 35 Hours Per week - Monday to Friday (1.0 FTE) <p>Start date: Immediately; Duration: March 28, 2025 with possible extension Reporting to the Manager of Procurement & Risk Management Services, the incumbent is responsible for purchasing supplies, equipment, and services in accordance with Board Policies and Administrative Procedures.<p>Given the central nature of Procurement & Risk Management Services, it is imperative the Buyer work in collaboration and cooperation with schools and other departments to build and execute oversight mechanisms for the procurement services of the Board to make certain that efficient and effective practices are active.<p>Key Job Requirements : Collaborate with and provide excellent customer service to various schools, business departments, and external contacts. <p> Facilitating competitive procurement documents and contract support for goods and services requirements including providing support in the preparation, issuing and receipt of competitive bid opportunities as well as facilitating the requisition and purchase order process in accordance with the procedures for competitive bidding.<p> Review Purchase Orders in accordance with the Procurement Policy to ensure completeness and compliance with Board purchasing policies/procedures and appropriateness of vendor selection.<p> Review, evaluate, and monitor vendor performance and collaborate with vendors to resolve any issues as well as investigate new opportunities. Ensure that appropriate action is taken with materials and contracts not conforming to the specifications.<p> Provide ongoing support, training, and consult with Board staff regarding procurement matters, such as K212, E-Way, contractual obligations, policies/procedures, and other inquiries. Act as a liaison between vendor and user.<p> Prepare and maintain records, reports, price lists, stock files, and other documents on the Procurement intranet site.<p> Participate as a member of various committees and cooperative procurement groups, as required.<p> Support the implementation of new procurement or continuous improvement initiatives and facilitate communication between Board office and schools.<p> Organize and coordinate the safe disposal of Board surplus assets. <p> Additional duties assigned by the Manager of Procurement & Risk Management Services.Qualifications : <p> Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business or related field or equivalent. <p> Certificate in Purchasing/Supply Chain or working towards certification from a Professional Purchasing Program (Ontario Public Buyers Association, Supply Chain Canada) with completion expected within a reasonable timeframe. <p> Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a complex purchasing environment or similar or related experience preferably in the public sector. <p> Excellent planning and organizational skills with experience in the effective management of multiple projects and demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize and complete tasks with accuracy and on time. Demonstrate personal initiative, sound judgement, strong interpersonal, organization, and communication skills with the ability to function effectively and collaboratively with various employee groups and external contacts. <p> Strong analytical skills with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail. In addition to demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills. <p> Well versed in procurement ethics, policies, procedures, and relevant legislation in procurement matters. In addition, demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of a broad range of business information.
