If you are not yet fully qualified for this position, you may be eligible to participate in a full-time skill development program designed to prepare you to become a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II. A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II is responsible for the technical and skilled work pertaining to the operations and maintenance of the J.A.M.E.S Wastewater Treatment Plant while assisting your team in the overall achievement of efficient operation of the wastewater treatment facility. This position requires thorough knowledge of secondary wastewater treatment, chlorination and dechlorination principles and practices, wastewater analysis procedures and the ability to interpret laboratory data and test results for efficient plant operations.The successful candidate, if entering the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II - Development Program, will be required to complete the entire program to the final level; a maximum of 36 months. During the course of the development program, candidates will not be eligible to apply to other positions in the City of Abbotsford. You must complete the development program, as well as 12 months in the end level (Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II) position. To be eligible to take advantage of this exciting opportunity, candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:Grade 12 or Equivalency (GED) 90 hours (9.0 CEU?s?) in an approved basic operator training course. 3 months? experience (minimum 500 hours) at Class 1 or higher facility/system. Ability to obtain Class 3 BC Driver?s Licence. Ability to obtain WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level II certification. Once fully qualified you will have:Grade 12 or Equivalency (GED) EOCP Level II (Wastewater Treatment) 3 years? experience in the operations and maintenance of a secondary wastewater treatment facility. EOCP Chlorine Handler Certificate First Aid Level II Class 3 BC Driver?s Licence Please note: Fully qualified candidates will be considered before those eligible for the development program. Qualified candidates will be asked to submit a satisfactory Driver?s Abstract. This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $32.99 to $38.79 per hour. In addition, the City of Abbotsford offers a comprehensive benefits package.
