This is moderately complex work involving planning and co-ordinating the implementation of a wide range of parks capital development and operational projects, including preparing design proposals, plans, specifications and tenders for parks design, maintenance and construction projects, and preparing detailed preliminary and final cost estimates. The work will include developing project scopes; planning schedules and budgets; monitoring work progress and project costs; and providing direction and assistance to a variety of project team members and stakeholders.The incumbent will also co-ordinate and maintain the parks capital and operational budgets under the direction of a supervisor and will be responsible for maintaining a variety of database systems, performing routine site inspections, and preparing and maintaining a variety of reports, records and related documents.The incumbent will establish programs for the inspection, maintenance, and replacement of infrastructure components as well as develops and recommends procedures related to inspections and maintenance.The work involves considerable contact with a wide variety of internal and external contacts including members of the public. The incumbent exercises considerable independence of judgement and action within established policies and procedures. Unusual matters or the more complex problems are discussed with a superior who reviews work performance in terms of technical adequacy, conformance to established policies and procedures and attainment of desired results.The successful applicant will possess:Considerable knowledge of the methods used in estimating material, labour and equipment costs for parks development projects, and in preparing capital and operating budgets. Considerable knowledge of parks related construction and maintenance methods, techniques and practices as well as related by-laws, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to the work. Working knowledge of the functions and procedures of other municipal departments as they relate to the work performed. Ability to read and interpret project plans and drawings, and to prepare related project proposals and specifications for parks development projects and to prepare detailed cost estimates, coordinate budget preparation, and monitor project expenditures. Ability to prepare and maintain records, files and correspondence as related to the work. Sound knowledge of computer applications related to the work performedQualificationsGraduation from a diploma program from an Institute of Technology in appropriate discipline such as landscape architecture, engineering, parks administration, or a construction trade; plus, sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Certification or eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist of British Columbia and a valid BC driver?s license is required.Desired/Preferred QualificationsExperience with
