Our actions in this regard have a positive impact on our communities and help to improve the everyday lives of New Brunswickers.The employees of EECD develop programs and offer services that support parents and educators and encourage learners to achieve lasting and transferable learning that will serve them throughout their lives.What you will do: Reporting to the Director of Learning and Achievement for K-8, the successful candidate will oversee the current K-5 Mathematics and English Language Arts curricula, including maintaining current curriculum and resources on the digital curriculum platform. A large portion of the portfolio will involve supporting the Anglophone sector Math Improvement initiative, which will require engagement and consultation with stakeholders and rightsholders. The Learning Specialist will be responsible for co-constructing a timeline for shifting curriculum and practices in K-5 Mathematics and supporting the Building Blocks of Reading initiative in English Language Arts. This Learning Specialist will review and contribute to the development and renewal of the Academic Support Teacher (AST) playbook, and collaborate with districts, Education Support Services, and the Assessment and Analysis Branch on the development of professional learning for classroom educators and ASTs. They will endorse and sponsor Academic Support Teacher work, develop briefing notes and communicate progress to formal government and districts.Who you are: The successful candidate will possess an appetite for compelling research evidence, will be flexible and responsive with a strong interest in contributing to the One Team One GNB approach to supporting the Education System. You possess strong active listening skills, are purpose driven and motivated to learn. You have familiarity with the NB Curriculum Framework and you hold the Education Sector in the highest regard. Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:Need to have:Master's degree in Education, or a related field and a minimum of seven (7) years of public-school teaching experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Leadership Experience Project Management Experience Strong written communication skills Written and spoken competence in English is required.
