POSITION OVERVIEW
The Project Forester will assist the Forestry Manager as directed and is responsible for:
? Supervising Direct Reporting Staff if applicable
? Forestry Planning and assist in developing/implementing First Nation Forestry Practices
? Managing Contractor and Field Crew Safety, Performance and Oversight where applicable
? Engaging with Forestry Clients, Partners and Government Officials as directed
This position will have opportunity to be involved in a wide range of First Nation Forestry including Forest Tenure Management, Forest Planning & Policies and engagement with other First Nation Communities.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
? Supervise and/or participate in In-House Fieldwork which may include Surveys, Site Assessments and Forest Planning & Development activities
? Supervision and Training of new/hired Field Technicians
? Contract Development, Administration, and Supervision
? Ensure Legal, Regulatory and Client specific requirements are met
? Organise and maintain Accurate Records, Field Data/Notes and follow-up Reporting
? Oversight and secure storage of Sensitive Data and Records
? Monitor Worksite Safety
? This position includes Field and Office duties
? Other duties as required by Forestry Manager
EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION
? University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forestry
? Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Technician (RFT) with Forest Professionals of British Columbia https://www.fpbc.ca/
QUALIFICATIONS ? KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
? Excellent Leadership and Communication skills, Project Management skills, and an ability to work within a team environment
? Knowledge of applicable BC Forestry Legislation, Regulations and Government Policies
? Strong Computer skills and use of Business Administration & Forestry related Software (Microsoft 365 for Business, Google Earth Pro, Mobile GIS Apps)
? Sensitivity to and knowledge of First Nation Cultural Values and Traditions is an asset
? Good Interpersonal, Communication, Time Management and Organizational skills
? Strong attention to detail, accuracy and format regarding Reporting, Records and Professional Forestry Plans & Reports
? Class 5 driver?s license, and acceptable drivers abstract
EXPERIENCE
? Minimum 2 years? experience across a spectrum of forestry related to Forestry Planning, Practices and Policy
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $33.85-$44.70 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
