Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables
  • Repair machine tools and parts
  • Set up and adjust production machineries/tools
  • Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments
  • Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances
  • Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
  • Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)
  • Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
  • Visually inspect products for quality
  • Set up and dismantle equipment
  • Set up machines
  • Select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist
  • Review work order to determine job specifications
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Enter codes specifying speed, feed and cut of the toolpath for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools
  • Move products using forklift, crane or hydraulic hoist
  • Grind or chip excess metal from metal products using hand tools
  • Program CNC machine tools
  • Set up equipment for scheduled production
  • Determine materials required
