Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Staff accommodation provided. Tasks: Professionalism in customer service. Load and unload goods. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform brake adjustments. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Air Brakes Endorsement. CPR Certificate. Defensive Driving Course. Driver's License (Class 1 or A). First Aid Certificate. Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate. Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Maintenance and repair reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Dump truck. Tractor-trailer. Communication systems experience: Citizens band (CB) radio. Transportation/travel experience: Local. Short-haul. Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Drive manual transmission vehicle.
