Practical and Applied Arts Teacher (Full Time - 1.0 Position) <p> <p>The Athabasca Denesuline Education Authority (ADEA) is a First Nation Education Authority serving the three Denesuline First Nations communities in northern Saskatchewan; Black Lake First Nation, Hatchet Lake First Nation, and Fond Du Lac First Nation. The Authority serves a total student population of approximately 1,300+ students. The Authority is working toward improved educational outcomes by utilizing the latest technology, progressively piloting programs, and integrating Denesuline culture into the classroom and school curriculum. <p> <p>The ADEA is seeking a competent, confident, motivated individual to fill the position of Practical and Applied Arts Teacher for 2024-2025 school year at Father Porte Memorial Dene School (FPMDS), located in Black Lake, Saskatchewan. FPMDS is a Pre-K to Grade 12 facility with a student population of 400+, and a strong group of professional and paraprofessional staff. In this role, you will provide strong interpersonal skills, commitment to learning and teaching in project-based ways and provide an enthusiastic learning environment for students.<p> <p>This competition is open to all applicants who reside in Canada; and preference will be given to First Nation or other Indigenous applicants who possess the qualifications, knowledge, and skills to meet the minimum suitability requirements as stated for the position.<p> <p>What We Offer: <p>We offer paid time off such as professional development and non-instructional days, and sick days. We also provide housing, paid travel expenses, and northern allowance, and you will be surrounded by leaders and colleagues that want the best for each student and their learning and well-being.<p> <p>Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities: <p><p> Be aware of any allergy?s children may have. <p><p><p> Establish clear instructional direction to support a positive learning climate in the context of the Denesuline culture and language.<p> Provide positive ways for classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.<p> Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of all students.<p> Plan and organize materials ahead of time.<p> Assess and document student learning daily.<p> Assess and maintain student progress and provide feedback to students and parents.<p> Participate in professional development, staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school related activities. <p><p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: <p><p> Must be patient, flexible, observant, and passionate. <p> Must have communications skills such as: verbal and nonverbal, active listening, and empathy.<p> Must have strong understanding of the following programs and assessments: Effective Practices, Policies and Guidelines; Saskatchewan Curriculum. <p> To follow the provincial Ministry of Education curricula and focuses on holistic child development including the social-emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual domains. <p> Actively engage with families, children, and community members to understand their backgrounds and experiences to support an equitable and inclusive school environment.<p> Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents and community. <p> Maintain confidentiality of students and other professional information<p> <p> Qualifications: <p> <p> Bachelors Degree in Education or equivalent <p> A recognized post-secondary Diploma as a Practical and Applied Arts Teacher or equivalent post-secondary education in a related area from a recognized institution would be an asset.<p> <p> <p> Must be eligible for or posses a valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate. <p
