Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Cold/refrigerated. Dusty. Noisy. Odours. Outdoors. Wet/damp. Work setting: Municipal government. Rural area. Urban area. Tasks: Clean and maintain sidewalks, streets, roads and public grounds. Spread sand or salt on sidewalks for snow or ice control. Dig ditches and trenches. Operate jackhammers and drills to break up pavement. Assist equipment operators to secure attachments to equipment or truck. Load and unload trucks with supplies and equipment. Shovel cement and other materials into cement mixers, spread concrete and asphalt on road surfaces using shovels, rakes and hand tampers. Sweep debris and remove snow from streets, sidewalks, building grounds and other areas, and load snow and debris into carts or trucks. Equipment and machinery experience: Mobile sidewalk cleaners. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Client focus. Dependability. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Flexibility. Judgement. Team player.
