Descriptive work title of immediate Supervisor: Manager, Streets 6. Classification of immediate Supervisor: Exempt__________________________________________________________________________ 7. Position Function: Supervise and coordinate the operation of the Electrical section. 8. Duties:A. Principal Duties Involve:1. Coordinate, assign and review the work of up to 20 staff involved in inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and construction of the City?s electrical infrastructure and other related assets2. Establish and ensure schedules, procedures and established performance and safety standards are met.3. Monitor staff attendance and implement improvement plans where required.4. Lead effective staff meetings and discussion sessions.5. Responsible for full supervision. B. Other Duties Include:Plan, prioritize, schedule, document, and assign the section?s inspection, maintenance, and construction functions related to the City?s electrical infrastructure, with other sections and outside agencies. Design, plan, budget and oversee specific projects and programs. Prepare operating and capital budgets, monitor expenditures, make progress reports, and make recommendations for adjustments. Make recommendations regarding types of equipment to be acquired, operational changes and related costs. Requisition parts and supplies from city stores and purchase from outside suppliers. Receive and inspect ordered items. Verify and code packing slips and invoices. Review and approve credit card receipts and monthly invoices. Obtain quotes for the provision of services by outside agents. Respond to inquiries, complaints, and requests for service from the public and outside agencies. Liaise with consultants, inspectors, utilities, and contractors. Conduct site inspections to review requirements and work progress, and document findings. Ensure contractors and outside agencies adhere to tender specifications. Investigate damage and accident claims initiated against the City and prepare reports. Serve as primary contact for after hour calls and emergencies. Carry out on-site assessment of emergency situations arising from motor vehicle accidents, storm damage, equipment failure, etc. Organize and supervise crews engaged in emergency maintenance work. Serve as the Electrical Field Safety Representative for the electrical installations and annual operating permit of the City?s electrical section. Review and evaluate engineering reports, drawings and proposals, and makes recommendations related to the electrical infrastructure. Prepare, review, and evaluate specifications and tenders. Create, update, and maintain computer and paper-based databases, drawings, and inventory lists. Represent the section at various meetings with other sections and departments, and outside agencies. 9.
