\*Job Summary\*
As a Clinical Counselor for both ICBC (Insurance Corporation of British Columbia) and private insurance provider clients, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals on their journey to recovery following accidents or traumatic events. Your primary responsibility will be to provide high-quality, evidence-based therapeutic services that address the emotional and psychological needs of clients. This position requires a compassionate professional with a strong background in counseling, psychology, or social work, along with proper licensure and certifications.
Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments to determine client needs, developing and implementing personalized treatment plans, and facilitating individual and group therapy sessions. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including medical professionals and case managers, to ensure a holistic approach to care. You will also provide support and guidance throughout the claims process, helping clients navigate their insurance benefits and access additional resources as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. This role requires a thorough understanding of the psychological impact of accidents and trauma, as well as familiarity with ICBC and private insurance protocols. \*Responsibilities\*
* *Client Assessment:*
* Conduct comprehensive initial assessments to identify clients' psychological and emotional needs following accidents or traumatic events.
* Gather relevant information to understand the impact of the incident on the client's mental well-being.
* *Treatment Planning:*
* Develop personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings, incorporating evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
* Set measurable goals and objectives to guide the therapeutic process.
* *Therapeutic Support:*
* Provide individual and group counseling sessions to help clients process their experiences, manage trauma-related symptoms, and develop coping strategies.
* Utilize various therapeutic modalities (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care) tailored to each client's unique situation.
* *Collaboration and Coordination:*
* Work collaboratively with medical professionals, case managers, and other stakeholders involved in the client's recovery journey to ensure coordinated care.
* Attend interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
* *Insurance Navigation:*
* Assist clients in understanding their insurance coverage and benefits related to mental health services.
* Provide documentation and progress reports to insurance providers, such as ICBC and private insurers, as required for claims processing.
* *Crisis Management:*
* Provide immediate support and intervention for clients experiencing acute emotional distress or crisis situations.
* Assess and address safety concerns, implementing appropriate interventions and referrals when necessary.
* *Client Education:*
* Educate clients and their families about the psychological effects of trauma and the recovery process.
* Provide resources and referrals for additional services as needed (e.g., support groups, community resources).
* *Documentation and Record-Keeping:*
* Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
* Document therapy sessions, treatment progress, and communication with other healthcare providers.
* *Professional Development:*
* Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in mental health treatment and trauma care.
* Participate in ongoing supervision, training, and professional development opportunities.
