Job details
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year. Work site environment: Outdoors. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect defects. Establish NDI techniques and calibration standards. Calibrate, test and interpret ultrasonic equipment. Set up, calibrate, operate and interpret magnetic particle, eddy current, liquid penetrant, acoustic emission, and infrared thermographic equipment. Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations. Instruct and supervise trainees. Maintain test result reports. Supervision: 3-4 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) accreditation. CWB Welding Inspector Certification Level 2. Nondestructive Testing Certificate. Testing equipment and methods: Liquid penetrant. Magnetic particle. Visual inspection. Nondestructive testing. Ultrasonic. Area of work experience: Construction. Large pressure vessels. Oil or gas pipelines. Petrochemicals. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Accurate.
