Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Installation. Construction site. Troubleshooting/diagnostic. Level of expertise: Technician. Tasks: Inspect products to determine the requirements for repair. Inspect and test electronic equipment and assemblies. Repair or replace defective or worn-out parts and components using hand, power or specially designed tools. Diagnose and locate circuit, component and equipment faults. Test and adjust repaired products for proper functioning. Adjust, align, replace or repair electronic equipment and assemblies. Calibrate products using hand tools. Complete work orders, test and maintenance reports. Read blueprints and drawings. Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites. Install surface mount and/or overhead cables. Ensure that systems and equipment are operating efficiently and that proper maintenance and repairs are performed. Develop maintenance and operating standards for electrical and electronic systems and equipment. Connect cables, tubes and wires. Install software and hardware and configure operating system software in preparation for testing. Install and wire electric and electronic control system devices. Supervision: Telecommunications equipment technicians. Switch network installers and repairers. Type of service and repair: Alarm/security system. Computer and technology knowledge: Networks.
