*JOB DESCRIPTION ? BMU MAINTENANCE MECHANIC*
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible to evaluating equipment, troubleshooting and analyzing issues to determine root causes, implementing solutions and verifying solution effectiveness of the mechanical operations of the Building Maintenance Units (BMUs), monorails, swing stages, davit and anchorage systems. This includes regular contracted maintenance, as well as ad hoc repairs for day-to-day, short-term and long-term projects.
*Job Responsibilities:*
* *MUST BE COMFORTABLE WORKING AT HEIGHTS OF 50-70 FLOORS.*
* Demonstrated mechanical ability and experience in working with hand/power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and devices (drilling, tapping, cutting, etc.).
* Utilize technical skills to execute planned maintenance on mechanical equipment/devices.
* Conduct preventive maintenance inspections on all equipment to detect malfunctions through observation (sound and/or visual), repair broken or faulty machinery, and perform tests to ensure system functionality.
* Choose appropriate parts, materials, tools and safety access material based on mechanical needs and site conditions.
* Must have experience or comfortable with working at heights with required PPE, in tight spaces, kneeling, bending, and twisting ? indoor and outdoor environments.
* Ensure documentation of maintenance work in accordance with company procedures, i.e., building site log books, etc.
* Ensure all work is in compliance with Safety Standards and must utilize appropriate PPE.
* Work collaboratively with other technical and operational resources.
* Interface with supervisor, other workers and building personnel for direction setting.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
*Job Skills/Requirements*:
* Minimum of 2 years maintenance mechanic experience.
* Valid Working at Heights certification, a plus.
* Problem solving to help analyze machinery malfunctions.
* Demonstrated fine motor skills like hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
* High degree of attention to detail, precision, and follow-through.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills, as well as active listening.
* Time management that facilitates multitasking to complete simultaneous projects.
* Must possess a valid Ontario G driver?s license and a clean record to drive company vehicle to building work sites in downtown Toronto and the GTA.
* Physical strength with the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
* Available to work overtime (some nights and weekends), as needed.
* Must be legally able to work in Canada.
* Punctuality and cleanliness.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $32.00-$38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 42.5 per week
