Village of ChaseAccounting ClerkA full-time employment opportunity exists at the Village of Chase for an Accounting Clerk to perform various finance clerk functions and assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Tasks include but are not limited to:Processes all payroll functions for employees, elected officials and fire department members Processes all accounts payable invoices including reconciliation Processes the quarterly Utility billing including adjustments and reconciling accounts Provides property tax support to the CFO including preparation of tax notices, preparation of letters and other information to property owners and regularly downloads BC Assessment and Home Owner grant information Maintain integrity of all property ownership and billing information Prepares and processes journal entries under the direction of the CFO Provides assistance to the CFO for audit preparation, account reconciliations and annual financial reporting Assisting with grant reconciliation and claims reporting Assisting with implementation of electronic filing and document management improvements Provides front counter and reception assistance when required The successful candidate:Will have a minimum of four years? work experience in a similar accounting position Completion of 2 years of recognized accounting program, and/or progression in an accredited accounting program Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Knowledge of municipal related finance legislation and practices Experience with iCity/Vadim software is preferred Competent working knowledge with Microsoft office: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams Must be able to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner Must be able to deal tactfully with the public and elected officials Must be confident, flexible, and able to multi-task Must be able to handle changing priorities and manage time and tasks effectively May be required to work overtime from time to time to meet financial deadlines Must maintain an excellent quality of service and high degree of accuracy in their work This position is within the CUPE Bargaining Unit with a current wage of $37.00 per hour (2023 rate), along with a comprehensive benefits package. The hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a half hour for lunch and participation in a flex time plan.
