Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Dusty. Work setting: Commercial. Residential. Various locations. Tasks: Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding. Measure, cut and install carpeting on floors. Measure, cut and install resilient floor coverings. Prepare and install hardwood floors. Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. Conduct moisture, ph, temperature and other tests prior to flooring installations. Prepare floors for installations. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Installation specialization: Vinyl or resilient tiles. Ceramic tiles. Terrazzo tiles. Hardwood intricate patterns flooring. Linoleum. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Personal suitability: Organized. Team player. Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years. Support for newcomers and refugees: Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition. Support for youths: Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth.
