Reporting to the Director of Computer Services, the Systems Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the University's server and network infrastructure, as well as assisting with technical support issues, software and hardware implementation, equipment setup and installation.ResponsibilitiesInstallation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all computer hardware, software, systems, networks and related equipment.Troubleshooting user hardware and software issues.Monitoring, maintaining and supporting all switches, wireless controllers and access points.Monitoring and maintaining all servers, server operating systems and network appliances.Performing patch installations and upgrades on all systems.Administering and implementing cybersecurity policies and procedures.Managing user authentication and security.Implementing systems and security improvements by assessing current situation, evaluating trends and anticipating requirements.Participate in the release process of new versions of applications.Engage with 3rd party support vendors on product support issues and escalation procedures.Provide back-up support to the Director of Computer Services and other department members as needed.QualificationsDegree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems or related program combined with a minimum of 3 years related is require. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Knowledge of network technologies such as routers, switches, VLANs and wireless access points is required. Knowledge of network services such as DNS, DHCP and NTP is required. Knowledge of computer software and hardware in a mixed environment (macOS and Windows) is required. Experience with data management, backup and archival processes is required. Windows Server administration experience is preffered. Linux Server administration experience is preffered. Prefer applicable certifications e.g. CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco.Other InformationApplications should be sent via the CareerBeacon website.
