Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Pharmacy or drugstore. Tasks: Ensure the information on prescriptions is accurate. Enter client information in databases. Help pharmacists. Maintain inventories of medications and pharmaceutical products. Maintain prescription records . Prepare medications for clients. Set up and dismantle equipment. Supervise and direct activities of other medical technologists or technicians. Apply and adjust casts, splints and bandages. Clean and maintain equipment. Compound, package and label pharmaceutical products. Design and fabricate ocular implants. Help with scheduling and workflow. Lay out surgical instruments. Prepare and maintain equipment and supplies. Reassemble equipment and assemble packs of sterile supplies and instruments for delivery to hospital departments. Record information about donors. Assist chiropractor with patient health education. Assist in supervising personnel who prepare and serve food. Clean and dress wounds. Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and instrumentation for re-use according to standardized safety practices. Take body or limb measurements of patients. Bill third party insurers. Compound oral solutions, ointments and creams. Help patients complete menus. Maintain inventories of medications and prescription records of pharmaceutical products. Process claims such as health insurance or workers compensation. Collect statistics. Maintain supplies. Clean and restore ocular prostheses. Interpret physician's specification. Maintain inventory of equipment. Advise patients on loss of depth perception. Perform general clerical duties. Manage routine office functions including reception, telephone and booking appointments.
