Job details
First Choice Motors is seeking a lead mechanic for our repair operations. Responsible for diagnosing incoming vehicles, distributing tasks to junior mechanics, and working on more complex and demanding repairs. This role requires in-depth automotive knowledge and leadership, ensuring the service team operates efficiently and upholds high-quality standards.
*Key Duties:*
* *Vehicle Diagnosis:* Perform detailed diagnostics on vehicles that enter the shop, identifying all mechanical and electrical issues. Ensure that all problems are recorded and communicated accurately.
* *Job Assignment:* After diagnosing each vehicle, assign repair tasks to junior mechanics based on their skill levels and current workload. Ensure that the right mechanic is working on the appropriate tasks for optimal efficiency.
* *Technical Expertise:* Handle the more complex or specialized repairs, such as engine rebuilds, transmission work, or intricate electrical troubleshooting.
* *Quality Control:* Oversee the work of all mechanics to ensure that repairs are completed to the highest standard, performing final inspections before vehicles are released.
* *Mentorship:* Provide guidance and training to junior mechanics, helping them develop their skills and knowledge. Be available to assist or supervise when they encounter challenging repairs.
* *Time Management:* Ensure that vehicles are repaired promptly and efficiently to meet customer deadlines without sacrificing quality.
* *Tool Management:* Maintain shop tools and equipment, ensuring everything is in working order and that the shop operates efficiently.
*Requirements:*
* *Certification:* Must be a licensed and qualified mechanic with proven experience in automotive diagnostics and repairs.
* *Leadership Skills:* Strong leadership ability, capable of managing a team of mechanics and guiding their work.
* *Extensive Automotive Knowledge:* Must be able to diagnose and repair a wide range of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical, suspension, and brakes.
* *Problem Solving:* Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems and develop effective repair strategies.
* *Experience:* Minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanic experience in a similar role.

* Weekends as needed
