Our community has an amazing quality of life with something for everyone.About the Position:Under the direction of the Director of Corporate Services, the Deputy Corporate Officer supports the Corporate Officer with the administration and management of municipal operations, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and effective governance practices. This role involves overseeing council and committee processes, maintaining official records, and facilitating public access to information.Responsibilities:Assist in preparation, distribution, and management of agendas, minutes, and reports for council meetings. Ensure compliance with procedural bylaws and statutory requirements for meeting documentation. Assist in the interpretation and application of legislation, bylaws, and policies. Support the Director of Corporate Services in the development and review of municipal bylaws and policies. Ensure that all legislative requirements are met for municipal processes and decisions. Coordinate public notifications and advertisements for meetings, public hearings, and other municipal procedures and events. Provide support to the Corporate Office for overall records management and corporate processes. (i.e.. licensing, agreements, FOIPPA requests, etc.) Act as the Corporate Officer in their absence, ensuring continuity of operations. Assist in administrative duties, including correspondence, report preparation and special projects. Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget. Act as Elections or Deputy Elections Officer. Any other related duties or tasks as required.Candidate Requirements:REQUIRED - Minimum of five (5) years? experience in an administrative role.PREFERRED - Intermediate Local Government or Public Administration Certificate or Municipal Clerk Certification (CMC).PREFERRED - a degree or diploma in a related field would be considered an asset.PREFERRED - Knowledge of agenda management, minutes taking, records management, and the municipal legislative process, including applicable legislation and best practices.PREFERRED - Working knowledge of the Community Charter, Local Government Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, municipal bylaws, and other relevant legislation, regulations, and policies.Please see Job Description for Skills and Qualifications @ https://www.districtoftumblerridge.ca/p/employment-opportunitiesWhat We Provide:The District of Tumbler Ridge is an equal-opportunity employer, and we encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply.
