*Job Overview*
We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records, managing accounts, and supporting the financial operations of the organization.
The part-time bookkeeper with the Tyendinaga Township Public Library will support the day-to-day accounting responsibilities in cooperation with the Chief Executive Officer. The bookkeeper will watch over the library financial data and compliance by maintaining accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliation. In addition, the bookkeeper will perform accounting tasks (such as monthly financial reporting), enter general ledgers, and record payments and adjustments. The bookkeeper will maintain financial records in accordance with good business practice.
*Duties*
- Perform clerical tasks such as data entry, filing, and organizing financial documents
- Conduct account analysis and reconciliation to ensure accuracy
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, etc., to maintain financial records
- Assist in budgeting and financial reporting
- Conduct bank reconciliations to verify financial transactions
*Qualifications*
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role
- Proficiency with the SAGE Accounting Program
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
- Strong understanding of account reconciliation and financial principles
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
- Knowledge of various accounting tools and software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero is preferred
Job Description
* Calculate and prepare cheques for payrolls and for utility, tax and other bills
* Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, and other government documents
* Prepare tax returns and perform other personal bookkeeping services
* Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports.
* Assist the CEO in preparation of the annual audit
* Assist the CEO with the administration of different funding sources, i,e grants or donations
* Prepare bank deposits and complete the deposits
* Assist with financial forecasts
* Collect, analyze, and summarize data for tax forms according to local and federal mandates.
* Knowledge of HST requirements and filing
* Knowledge and ability to support the annual Charitable Report requirements
* Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
