Horizon School Division is committed to engaging and empowering all learners and prioritizes strong instruction, response to intervention, and wellness.<p>Milk River Elementary/ Erle Rivers High School <p>Soon to be called Milk River Ridge School due to an amalgamation, we have a student population of 160 from Early Learning to Grade 12 with approximately 22 staff. We are a collaborative environment where support staff are encouraged to share his/her insight into student learning.<p><p>Hours of work 12:38 pm - 3:25 pm Monday - Thurs<p>We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and innovative School Learning Commons Support to join our team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with students, teachers, and staff to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment that promotes inquiry-based learning, digital literacy, and student engagement across all grade levels (K-12). <p> This position involves managing the learning commons space, supporting the integration of technology, and fostering a love of reading and lifelong learning in students.<p> Key Responsibilities: <p> Collaboration & Curriculum Support: Work with classroom teachers to integrate digital tools and resources into curriculum planning, supporting student-centered learning.<p> Literacy & Learning Advocacy: Promote literacy through various programs and initiatives, including book clubs, reading challenges, and author visits. <p>Technology Integration: Support the use of technology in instruction, providing professional development for staff and troubleshooting digital tools and devices (e.g., Chromebooks, iPads). <p>Resource Management: Curate, organize, and maintain a collection of digital and print resources that reflect diverse perspectives, enhance curriculum, and support student inquiry. <p>Space Management: Ensure the learning commons is an accessible, flexible space for collaborative learning, makerspace activities, and independent study. <p>Student Engagement: Encourage student use of the learning commons through innovative programming that supports critical thinking, creativity, and research skills. <p>Equity & Access: Promote equity by ensuring all students have access to resources and technologies that support their learning needs.<p> Why Join Team Horizon? <p><p> A division-wide focus on individual, school and division wide health and wellbeing.<p> Professional, caring work environments that encourage and support the growth and development of our staff. <p> Knowledgeable, genuine, and approachable teammates who support one another to succeed<p> Opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of children and youth<p> Competitive compensation and retirement package including paid time off and flexible, employer paid, health benefits (for eligible employees)<p> Work schedules built upon school calendar - respectful of family time and work/life balance<p> Opportunities for carpooling to reduce transportation costs<p><p>Horizon is an equal opportunity employer and values inclusion and respects diversity.
